US-290 shut down this weekend
The Northwest Freeway will be completely shut down in both directions this weekend at the 610 West Loop so crews can demolish an old ramp

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Northwest Freeway will be completely shut down in both directions this weekend at the 610 West Loop. This closure could have a major impact on drivers trying to access the Galleria area for weekend holiday shopping.

In addition to the closure of the freeway main lanes, several ramps will also be blocked. The US-290 inbound ramp to the 610 North Loop Eastbound will be blocked, as well as the 610 North Loop Westbound ramp to US-290 outbound. The closures will last all weekend, from Friday 9:00pmM to Monday 5:00am.

Crews are closing the freeway to demolish the old US-290 HOV "T-ramp" at Dacoma, in order to make room for an outbound direct connector ramp from I-10 to US-290.

Drivers should avoid the area. Outbound drivers will be detoured to 610 North Loop Eastbound, exit at T.C. Jester, U-turn, then continue on the feeder of US-290. Inbound drivers will be detoured to I-10 Westbound, exit at Wirt/Chimney Rock, U-turn and enter I-10 EB to 610 West Loop southbound.
