HOUSTON (KTRK) -- If you drive along the Katy Freeway, then you might have to find an alternate route soon.

Expect big closures overnight, because TxDOT is beginning a massive project along the Katy Freeway near the Villages.

Eyewitness News first told you about the project last year.

Crews will be adding new concrete grooves, which will reduce the noise tires make along the pavement.

The constant hum of traffic has been a problem in the area since 2008 when the Katy Freeway reopened after a $2.8 billion expansion made it taller, wider, noisier.

Drivers can expect overnight closures along I-10 between Gessner and North Post Oak until August.

Traffic anchor Katherine Whaley will keep you update on the specific closure dates, times and detours.
