HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- METRORail's red, green and purple lines are facing service interruptions today due to a power failure in downtown Houston.

The transit service said the sudden power system failure found Thursday evening resulted in an unscheduled service interruption along its red line. Portions of the green and purple lines were also impacted.

According to METRORail, bus shuttles are being provided along the red line between the Burnett Transit Center and Downtown Transit Center. Shuttles are also available between EaDo/Stadium and Theatre Stations along the green and purple lines.

Crews are working on fixing the issue, but there's no timetable on when service will be back up.

Riders are asked to monitor METRO Twitter and Facebook pages for timely information regarding transit service. METRO also offers real-time information through its service alerts system. METRO 's Customer Care team is available at 713-635-4000.
