One dead, four others injured in wreck on Beltway 8

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A rollover accident on the Beltway leaves one dead and four others injured, according to police.

A fatal accident had all westbound lanes of Beltway 8-North before Aldine Westfield Road for hours.

The wreck happened just before 5pm on the westbound lanes of Beltway 8-North just before Aldine Westfield Road. All lanes were shut down for several hours.

A man, woman and three kids were inside the wrecked SUV. According to HPD, the driver swerved to avoid another accident, over-corrected and rolled over several times.

The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital. The man and three kids were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital by ambulance. There is no word on their conditions.

An investigation is underway.
