Live in Gulfton? There's a new METRO service that'll make your rides to Bellaire easier

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- After reviewing plans, scratching them and then drawing up more plans, METRO has finally zeroed in on expanding bus services in the Gulfton area.

METRO is expected to bring targeted bus connections to the neighborhood with plans to roll out a Gulfton circulation pump, which aims to connect traffic-dependent passengers in the community outside I-610 near Bellaire with faster trips and transit centers for more trips, according to METRO.

"You can do a lot, you can connect with the rest of our system or you can stay within the Gulfton neighborhood," said METRO's executive vice president and COO, Andy Skabowski. "You can get a lot of your shopping done. It's strategically located for that user group and we're very excited about it, and we're expecting pretty good ridership."

The new routes are expected to begin in mid-August.
