Houston traffic spots you should avoid this weekend
PLAN AHEAD! You won't want to get caught in this mess. Here's what you need to know to make sure your weekend is smooth sailing.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- There are some trouble spots on Houston roadways that you'll want to plan ahead for this weekend, including a major closure in the Galleria area.

Check below for the alternate routes we've put together to make sure your weekend travel is smooth sailing.

Weekend closures:

In the Galleria area, starting 6 a.m. Saturday April 24 to 5 a.m. Monday April 26, Richmond Avenue eastbound at the I-610 West Loop will be closed.

As a detour, traffic will turn right onto the I-610 southbound frontage road. Drivers can turn left onto Westpark Drive then turn left onto the I-610 northbound frontage road and proceed to Richmond Avenue. There will also be some reduced westbound lanes.

In the Pasadena area, on Sunday April 25 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., there will be a daytime closure of the northbound mainlines from the Spencer exit ramp to the SH-225 entrance ramp on the East Sam Houston Tollway.

The northbound Fairmont, Spencer and Red Bluff entrance ramps will also be closed. Drivers can take the frontage road at the Spencer exit ramp and may re-enter the tollway using the SH-225 entrance ramp.

On Sunday, April 25, from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., there will be a daytime closure of the northbound SH-225 entrance ramp on the East Sam Houston Tollway. The northbound outside lane from the Red Bluff entrance ramp to the Ship Channel Bridge will also be closed.

Drivers traveling northbound may use the Red Bluff entrance ramp to access the tollway to get around.
