Workers with the City of Houston's Department of Neighborhoods have gone through at least 10,253 homes in the wake of Harvey.
According to the city, inspectors need to get eyes on the inside of damaged homes before FEMA. Those inspectors can later show FEMA the real problem areas.
So far, the majority of reported major flood damage has been to single-family properties. In addition, homes from every part of the city have been checked.
The city urges residents to report storm damage by dialing 311.
