Thieves steal Christmas gifts from heart patient's five children
A heart patient's Christmas tree is sadly vacant after thieves broke in and stole all their gifts.

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana -- A woman who just underwent open heart surgery says all she has left is hope after thieves broke into her home and stole gifts meant for her five children.

Ms. Rose, as we are calling her, told KSLA a Grinch broke into her Shreveport home and stole not just her sense of security, but the Christmas spirit, too.

In the process of stealing the family's gifts, the thieves also broke a number of ornaments and left their Christmas tree in shambles.

In all, the thieves got away with five bicycles, toys, even clothes to get them through the winter season.

Ms. Rose said police were less than cheery when she asked what could be done to salvage the holiday.

"They told me there was nothing they could do, 'cause I ain't never going to get it back," Ms. Rose said.

The victim said her children, ages 3 to 12, will be especially hurt in all this because the five bikes that were taken would have been their first.

To add insult to injury, Christmas is also Ms. Rose's 63rd birthday.

The victim says she's holding out hope for the only present that matters in the true spirit of Christmas.

"I asked the good Lord to bless my children," Rose said. "If nothing for me, bless them."
