Family of The Woodlands football player still hopeful 1 year after brain injury

THE WOODLANDS, Texas (KTRK) -- It's been one year since a Woodlands high school football player collapsed during a game.

Grant Milton hasn't been able to walk or speak since, but his family is hopeful he will do both again one day.

Grant is in Conroe getting four to five hours of therapy every day.

His father never imagined his son's life would take this turn, but his family is grateful.

"We're all blessed that Grant is still with us. We likely should have lost him that night a year ago and we didn't. We're thankful for that miracle," Grant's father, Miles Milton said.

Doctors are still unsure of what caused Grant's injury. His dad told ABC13 that there was no single play that they can blame.

Grant suddenly collapsed during the game in November of last year after he put a towel over his head and started vomiting.

Grant is a standout student athlete at The Woodlands High School where the entire community has been a champion for his recovery.
