HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Hundreds of people were lined up at various stores in Meyerland Plaza in southwest Houston, ready to take advantage of Black Friday deals, but on Thanksgiving Thursday.
At JCPenney, shoppers were mostly looking for great deals on clothes and the line stretched around the building by the time the doors opened at 3pm.
"I'm looking for a coat, appliances, and a few gifts for the family," says shopper Joan Brown-Baxter.
Most told us they prefer grabbing a deal in-person, as opposed to online.
"I have found online deals, like this," says shopper Hema Ojah, "but here, I get to see and feel the items."
They believe they haven't forgotten Thanksgiving just because they're shopping. Quite the contrary, says Karen Palma.
"I feel like we give thanks everyday and it's not just a specific day. We should be thankful everyday for what we have."
