SF natives travel across the nation on bicycles during COVID-19
This group of teen bikers from San Francisco trekked all the way from the Bay Area to New York City during COVID-19.From sleeping in cornfields to navigating an anti-mask protest, these teenage cyclists and their English teacher traveled across the US during a global pandemic.

SAN FRANCISCO -- After graduation, Dasha Yurkevich, Emmet Forde, Julian Jordan, and their English teacher Andy Padlo, set out on a bike trip from San Francisco to New York City.

The group dipped their wheels in the Pacific Ocean and commenced on a 52-day bike adventure, traversing a nation during tumultuous times.

The bikers avoided densely packed cities by taking back roads, sleeping in cornfields, and relying on simple means of survival. Along the way, the cyclists encountered an anti-mask protest, which opened their eyes to differing perspectives throughout America.

Through this event, and other experiences along the way, they discovered that taking the time to understand what divides the country could ultimately help us unify.
