9 more Syrian refugees cleared for Houston move

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston will become home to nine more Syrian refugees after a judge cleared the way for their arrival.

A judge denied an attempt by state officials to block their entrance after Texas failed to show evidence terrorists infiltrated the refugee program.

The latest twist in the legal case comes as two other Syrian families resettled in Houston and Dallas on Monday.

State officials requested an emergency order to stop them from coming to Texas due to security concerns, but later withdrew.

More than 250 refugees from Syria have been re-settled in Texas this year, only a fraction of the millions of people trying to escape the civil war in their country.
