Ex-assistant principal learns punishment for sex with student

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A former assistant principal at Spring High School learned his punishment Tuesday for having sex with a student on prom night.

Mark West admitted to the encounter, which happened in May of 2012 in his school office during a prom event. He agreed to plead guilty.

During a two-day hearing that wrapped Tuesday, West was sentenced to eight years deferred probation and 120 days in county jail. The state had asked for 12 years.
