Baylor Player Beats Dog
A video recently surfaced of Baylor University football player Ishmael Zamora beating his dog after it went to the bathroom inside the house.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A video shows yet another ugly side to Baylor University football. The video, which was first posted on Snapchat, shows Ishmael Zamora, a wide receiver for the Bears abusing his dog.

Zamora, who is a Houston native and attended Elsik High School in Alief, repeatedly hits the dog in the video. The clip is too graphic for us to post in its entirety, but in the video you can see Zamora kick the dog and hit the animal with a belt while it cries out in pain. At one point in the video, he even curses at the dog.

Another Baylor player posted the video on Snapchat, but it has since been removed.

Woman who first reported video to police speaks to Eyewitness News.

Zamora has been charged with a misdemeanor and Baylor's football coach says he will also face sanctions from the university.

"Hopefully it's a teaching moment and a learning experience for him and I think he was frustrated and spanked the dog for not being house trained," said coach, Jim Grobe. "But you just can't do that, and he knows that. He loves the dog and takes great care of the dog other than losing his temper with the dog, I think he takes great care of him."

There's no word yet on the extent of the dog's injuries. But according to a police report, Zamora has sent the dog back to the Houston-area to live with his parents.

A petition from Change.org has garnered over 4,000 signatures for Zamora's removal from the team.
