TUSCON, Arizona (KTRK) -- Are you ready for some Cougars football? After a week delay due to Hurricane Harvey, University of Houston played its first game of the season Saturday night against the Arizona Wildcats.

The Coogs came out on top with a 19 to 16 win.

Last week, the Cougars were set to play UTSA before the game was canceled.

Many questions still remain unanswered about the 2017 version of Cougars football. With the departure of Tom Herman, the Cougars are now coached by Major Applewhite. Herman was hired as the head football coach at the University of Texas.

Last year, Greg Ward Jr. led the Cougars under center and took the team to the Las Vegas Bowl - a game which Applewhite coached -- where they lost to San Diego State. Ward Jr. graduated in the spring and is now a member of the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles.

On the defensive side, All-American lineman Ed Oliver returns for the Cougars. As a true freshman, Oliver started all 13 games for UH and caused havoc as a lineman for other teams.

Arizona is coming off a 62-24 win over Northern Arizona. Quarterback Brandon Dawkins completed 7 of 13 passes for 89 yards against NAU.

In the quest to return to the top of the college football world, UH will look to come out on top in Arizona.
