UH mum on new coach
David Nuno talks to UH's Tilman Fertitta about new coach search

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- In a rush to crown the Houston Cougar's next football coach, Lane Kiffin became a trending topic on news outlets across the country this morning.

The only problem: Kiffin hasn't been offered the job, University of Houston Board of Regents chair Tilman Fertitta told Eyewitness News.

The University of Houston tweeted out just before 10:30am this telling message:

Buzz online indicated that the University of Alabama offensive coordinator would lead the Coogs after Tom Herman's departure for the University of Texas.

In a playful gesture, the vice president of athletics at UH, Hunter Yuracheck, teased a photo of black smoke rising in St. Peter's Square in Rome, a symbol known to Catholics to mean a new pope has not been chosen during papal elections.
