Team Texas Elite team get ready
Texas Elite team gears up for a number of national tournaments this spring and summer

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- It's all about being the best and when you put together a 7 on 7 team that features some of the top returning players in the area and that's what you get -- the Texas Elite.

Manvel quarterback D'eriq King can't wait to start playing.

"This team is going to be amazing. We have all the top players in the area," said King.

Seven on seven starts with the quarterback and King is one of the best in the state if not the nation. He'll lead the Texas Elite into a number of national tournaments this spring and summer.

King has already committed to TCU. His Texas elite teammates who haven't committed will be seen from coast to coast.

Rod Anderson one of the Texas elite coaches says, "Most of the guys are already fielding offers this will give them more exposure. We will start a pipeline and take teams all the way down to 6th grade start identify talent there."

Playing against the area's best is only going to make these guys even better.

St. Thomas Junior, Dawson Hawkins loves coming to practice and says, "Every rep is against someone as good or better. It's not about making someone look bad -- everyone out there can play."

The ultimate goal this summer is bragging rights for Texas.

Katy defensive back Travis Willock says, "We believe Texas is the best and we want to go out and shot it.

King adds, "Texas and Florida both have good football, I think we better work to prove it."
