University athletic departments nationwide donate shoes, shirts for Harvey victims

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- University of Houston basketball head coach Kelvin Sampson and Mattress Mack teamed up Thursday to talk about the donations they've collected for Hurricane Harvey victims.

As soon as Hurricane Harvey hit, Sampson took to social media and asked schools from around the country to donate 20 T-shirts and 10 pairs of shoes to be handed out to victims. To date, 1,300 schools have answered Sampson's call.

Friday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon, hurricane victims will get a little help when the donations are distributed at the flagship Gallery Furniture location off I-45.
