HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A graduation celebration in southeast Houston took a tragic turn last night. A Houston teenager is now dead and police believe it may all be the result of a horrible accident.
Houston police got the call just after 8pm to a home in the 5600 block of Leeland. Neighbors say there was a group of young men were celebrating a graduation. During that celebration, one had shot another in the head.
The 18-year-old victim was transported to Ben Taub Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police say several witnesses said it was all an accident.
"They just graduated this year. Everybody there was a senior," said neighbor Raymond Lopez. "It's just terrible when an accident, something like that happens."
At this point, no charges have been filed. That will be up to Harris County grand jury.
