SOLVANG, Calif. -- The Danish Capital of America, Solvang, knows how to get everyone in the festive mood even when most areas of SoCal have warm weather and little snow. From November 27 to January 1, Solvang dresses up the streets with colorful lights and decorated trees for Julefest (Yule-fest).
"There's a lot of cool stuff that families can do around town, like bakeries, you can meet Santa, you can go and see the lights at nighttime. There's also a lot of cool shops that you can visit." said Tyler Sanchez.
Santa Claus is available to meet-and-greet every Saturday leading up to Christmas in Solvang Park. The many shops available also make Solvang a great holiday shopping destination. Some shops even feature Christmas decorations all year round.
Dana Abeln added, "For food items, I was really excited. I have celiac disease I found quite a few gluten-free items in some of the bakeries. They were actually quite delicious!"
Once nighttime hits Solvang, the town transforms into a winter wonderland with sparkling lights and an atmosphere that cant be found anywhere else in Southern California.
