HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The YMCA of Greater Houston Community Impact Luncheon was held to showcase the impact of the Y's work in the Houston Community.

President of the Houston Texas Jamey Rootes was featured speaker.

Congratulations to Aldine ISD and Humble ISD for being recognized for their community dedication and partnership with the YMCA.

The YMCA of Greater Houston has 36 centers and serves over 328-thousand members.

Last year, over 101-thousand students received new backpacks with school supplies through ABC13's longtime partnership with the YMCA's Operation Backpack.

The drive is held each year in August with the purpose of making sure students who need help are able to start the school year prepared.
