HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A teenage exhibitor at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo sold his prize steer to none other than Zac Brown.
Brown, his wife Shelly and four other bidders paid $330,000 for mixed-breed reserve champion Magic.
Stock Martin, 16, of Hereford is guaranteed $40,000 from the sale.
"That's about as good as it gets! I couldn't have imagined it," Martin said about selling his steer to a celebrity.
The grand champion, a Charolais named Playa, sold for $345,000 and was shown by 15-year-old Jagger Horn of Anson.
"It's a dream come true. It's a life-changing experience," Horn told ABC13. He will receive $80,000 from his sale.
A record-setting 2,814 steers were entered into the Houston Livestock Show in 2017. More than 64,000 fans turned out for the steer selection on Friday evening.
