Sweet-talking elderly woman gets Florida court laughing

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (KTRK) -- An 80-year-old woman's appearance in a Florida courtroom surprisingly had everyone laughing on Thursday.

Dolores Sheinis landed herself in jail and faced a judge in Fort Lauderdale.

During her court appearance, she called the jail she was in "horrendous" and showered the judge with compliments.

It's safe to say Judge John Hurley wasn't expecting a day like this.

Sheinis said during the appearance, "Oh, hello sweetheart, you look fantastic. Did you grow a few inches, 'cause you look taller?"

Sheinis' daughter spoke in the courtroom saying her mother suffered from mental illness and can be sweet one minute and violent the next.

The elderly woman was arrested for violating a restraining order against her ex-husband and resisting arrest.

The judge ordered her to be taken out of jail and sent to a mental facility.
