Teen with Down Syndrome named prom queen
A special night at prom will be one a teen will remember forever

McCAMEY, TX (KTRK) -- A Central Texas teenager with Down syndrome got an incredible prom experience, thanks to a sweet school quarterback and supportive student body.

Cesyli was asked by McCamey High School quarterback Adrian Alonzo to be his date for the big dance.

"He had told me right before, right before it all started he was like, 'Coach Mitchell I am so nervous, my hands are sweating. I am so nervous,'" teacher Bridgette Mitchell said.

Cesyli said yes, but that wasn't her only surprise. After getting dolled up and hyped up on the dance floor, she found out she'd been named prom queen.

"It really made me proud, the fact that I'm a principal of a high school, and I knew this already, but that we had such great, caring thoughtful kids," principal Jay McWilliams said.

Cesyli spent the rest of the night dancing in her crown and smiling with all her friends.

"It was probably our best prom yet here at McCamey. It was fun, it was really enjoyable, and she agrees," classmate McKenna Ford said.
