Police hand out gift cards instead of tickets

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Instead of a traffic ticket, Rosenberg Police Department will give out gift cards this holiday season.

The generosity was prompted after Chick-Fil-A and Academy Sports and Outdoors donated gift cards to be passed out by Rosenberg police as they interact with citizens from now until Christmas Day.

The police department will make routine traffic stops and pass out gift cards to people with only minor infractions.
