Man tries for Guinness World Record for number of pencils stuck in his hair

CHICAGO, IL -- Derek Harmes is going for the record of sticking the most pencils into his hair.

He collected 18 boxes of unsharpened No. 2 pencils and got to work decorating his giant mane.

He got 288 pencils into his hair in total. Harmes is now waiting for the Guinness Book of World Records to recognize his new look and dubious achievement,
