Kinkaid students hold mini Art Car Parade
Kinkaid students held their own mini Art Car Parade on Friday morning.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston's iconic Art Car Parade might not kick off until Saturday, but students at Kinkaid's lower school got in on the art car fun with their own mini parade.

The students crafted their own mini cars in art class and then held a parade on school grounds to show off their projects.

"It's the culmination of everything we've talked about all year -- the message that your creativity is the expression of you yourself," said Kinkaid art teacher Lauren Taylor. "Seeing them all parade and show off what they have made as a reflection of them...is really special."

The students' cars represented everything from McDonald's hamburgers to space exploration to alligators.

ABC13 is streaming the Houston Art Car Parade live on ABC13.com on Saturday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Don't miss the Houston Art Car Parade one-hour special April 22 on ABC13.
