ABC13's Katherine Whaley wins Reliant Rodeo Round up Competition

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Katherine Whaley went up against other Houston media personalities in the 2017 Reliant Rodeo Roundup Charity Competition.

The 'Hard Luck Contest' portion of the competition invited Facebook users to vote for their favorite media personality, and the winner with the most votes would receive a $2,500 donation toward the charity of their choice.

Whaley, competiting for the Kids' Meals Inc. organization, racked up over 1,000 votes and 95 shares for the win. It was exciting for the ABC13 personality to see such resounding support, but according to Whaley, the real winner is the charity dedicated to helping hungry children.

Kids' Meals was just as excited that Whaley won on their behalf, but the true thrill for them is the impact the proceeds will make to the kids they work to feed.
