HOUSTON (KTRK) -- With just a couple of weeks until Christmas, Houston Police Department joined forces with the Harris County Sheriff's Office and other dignitaries to provide a shopping spree for children.

Forty kids were given a $100 Target gift card to choose whatever they wanted.

The catch? They only had 10 minutes to fill up their carts.

"These kids are going to set an example right now of what Christmas is about," HPD Chief Art Acevedo said.

According to organizers, many of the children shopped not only for themselves but for their siblings as well.
