HOUSTON,Texas (KTRK) -- The Houston Marathon committee awarded two large scholarships to a pair of high school runners.

The scholarship was awarded to Bayli Luke of Cy-Falls High School and Robert Lord of George Ranch High School. Luke is headed to Concordia University and Lord will attend Southwestern in the fall.

They will each receive a total scholarship of $20,000 over four years.

"This almost covers everything we were gonna have to pay out of pocket with her academic scholarships, and this has literally been an answered prayer," said Nanci Luke Johnson, Luke's mother.

THe scholarships were awarded in honor of Susan Poorman Blackie. She co-founded the Houston Marathon Foundation and was a long time Houston Marathon committee volunteer board member.
