HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- It appears the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's online wine sale is a hit.

The rodeo opened its first-ever online wine sale at 10 a.m., but 20 minutes later, eager shoppers had some trouble logging on.

"We are receiving an overwhelming response for the sale that is currently challenging our website. We are working to get it fixed ASAP!" the rodeo said in a tweet.

We checked the site around 11:05 a.m., and received an error page about technical difficulties.

The rodeo's wine sale is offering award-winning wines at discounted prices. Then, you can take them home through contactless pickup July 27-28 NRG Park.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was cut short this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event, which draws millions of people from around the world, closed 11 days ahead of its March 22 finale. It also funds millions of scholarships every year, but despite the closure, that commitment was met.
