SAN ANTONIO, Texas (KTRK) -- A beloved teacher who is spending Christmas at home battling cancer received a dose of holiday cheer from some former students.
The students arrived outside Fred Fisher's home in San Antonio this morning and began to sing Christmas carols.
Though it's been years since many of them were in Fisher's second grade class, students said he remains an inspiration who continues to support them.
So in return, they said they wanted to show up to bolster him during this very special day.
"This is the hardest job I've ever had, and I've been shot at," Fisher said, with a laugh. "But it's the only job I've ever loved."
Fisher says knowing he's touched so many lives in the best Christmas gift he could have.
