HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- We are learning more about the beauty of the human spirit in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, especially with children.

Kids who are old enough to understand the severity of the flooding are bringing hope to other young ones who have been affected by the storm.

Xavier LeDeux, 7, is a Cy-Fair ISD student. He wrote letters to children and taped them to the back of his superhero toys to donate at a a local shelter.

Xavier's mother, Jasmine Camble, shared some photos on Twitter showing him hard at work writing the letters, which has received hundreds of retweets and dozens of comments.

The eight notes with the superhero toys were donated to the Berry Center where there are several people who have been displaced in the flood.

"It's a blessing to be a blessing," Camble said.
