HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A group of visually challenged Texans joined thousands of fans celebrating the art of barbecue at the Texas Livestock Show and Rodeo.

The World's Championship Bar-B-Que kicked off Thursday, and about 10 blind Houstonians got the chance to visit award-winning tents and sample their food.

"I wanted to bring more hope, fun, adventure and joy into the lives of my visually impaired and disabled friends through this multi-sensory tour," said Chelsea Nguyen, a small business owner who teamed up with the rodeo to host the group.

Gates to NRG Park open at 5pm. Adult tickets cost $15 and children's tickets are $5. Kids aged 2 and under get free entry.
