Silver Alert discontinued for elderly man in Alvin

A Silver Alert for an 80-year-old man was canceled Saturday morning after he was found safe, police said.

Alan Lloyd Jandl had been missing since early Saturday and had been spotted in the 3000 block of east FM 528 in Alvin around 1:20 a.m.

Silver Alerts are issued to notify people when authorities need help locating missing people, especially senior citizens with cognitive issues.

Texas is one of 37 states that have Silver Alert or similar notification systems in place to help find missing seniors.
