Facebook marketplace
Use the Facebook Marketplace to buy and sell items near your home.

Think of it as another tool in your holiday shopping arsenal. It's Facebook Marketplace, and it could mean big savings.

For those of you who may not know, Facebook Marketplace is an online source for buying, selling, trading or even getting something for free.

It's all sold and purchased by people on Facebook.

You can use a map to find items in your area.

And, for moms like Lisa Goe, she says it's a great way to save big money for the holidays. She's purchased strollers and kiddie cars from Facebook Marketplace.

"Facebook Marketplace is a safer way to get used toys," said Goe. "You know kids, they grow out of stuff so fast. It's a way to buy things for half the price."

It's also a good source to make some extra Christmas cash.

Simply take a photo of your item, then enter a product name, description and price. Finally, confirm your location and select a category.

"Once you become a member you can post any item or purchase any item by sending anyone a direct message," explained Goe.

From that point on, you and the seller can work out the details, and even negotiate.

It's important to note that Facebook does not facilitate the payment or delivery of items in the Marketplace. It's always important to remember to use safety precautions when meeting people for purchases.
