Auroras dance across sky in Iceland
Dazzling time-lapse video shows the Northern Lights dancing across the sky over Iceland.

REYKJAVIK, Iceland (KTRK) -- Dazzling new footage reminds us just how majestic the Northern Lights can be.

Halldor Sigurdsson shot 90 minutes of footage of the sky over Reykjavik, Iceland, earlier this week, which he eventually edited down to a brilliant time-lapse clip.

Also known as aurora borealis, the Northern Lights occur when electrons enter Earth's atmosphere and collide with oxygen and nitrogen atoms and molecules. That collision is visible as the aurora.
