HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Now that New York, London and Milan Fashion Weeks have come and gone, it's Houston's turn to see cutting-edge fashion, up close and personal.
The first fall installment of Runway Houston was held tonight at the River Oaks District.
Not only was the focus on high fashion, but also on community spirit.
"When I started this five years ago, never did I think we would have this many people fill the River Oaks District. This is beautiful," founder Omar Marcos told the crowd.
This year's line-up featured collections from local designers like Paola Contreras of Inclán Studio. It also featured several Project Runway alums like Lindsey Creel and Helen Castillo.
"This is our fourth time showing. Every year, it gets bigger and bigger," said Contreras. "It's great to see everyone working hard, and to work together as Houston does. It's amazing."
There was an artistic theme to this year's event, so fashion-lovers also got to experience an art installation from local artists.
Profits from the fall show will benefit Crime Stoppers of Houston and Yellowstone Academy, which works with 350 students in Houston's Third Ward.
