ROSENBERG, TX (KTRK) -- A Rosenberg child is getting some special attention for using his birthday to support his local police department.

Luke Cadenhead recently celebrated his seventh birthday with a pool party. But instead of asking his guests to bring him gifts, he asked everyone to make a donation, with proceeds going to the Rosenberg Police K-9 Unit.

To thank the seven-year-old, Rosenberg police invited Luke to the police station on Wednesday and introduced him to K-9 Officer C. Carr and K-9 Fyba.

But little Luke didn't come empty handed. He presented Officer Carr with an envelope filled with $157.25.

The money will be used to help the handlers buy equipment and other necessities for the K-9 Unit.

For his efforts, the Rosenberg Police Department gave Luke a shout out on the department's Facebook page and wished him the happiest of birthdays.
