Pearland man accused of strangling his common-law wife's mother

PEARLAND, Texas (KTRK) -- A Pearland man has been charged with strangling the mother of his common-law wife.

According to police, 55-year-old Richard Key has been in a common-law marriage with the victim's daughter for over a decade.

They all lived together, police said.

The woman was reportedly killed last Thursday, but there were no details on what led to her death.

Key is behind bars on a $250,000 bond.
