Houstonians hope to catch glimpse of Pope Francis in Mexico
Pope Francis heads to Mexico City tomorrow and some Houstonians are making the trip as well.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Pope Francis heads to Mexico City Friday, and some Houstonians are making the trip as well.

Eduardo Lopez-Decasas is the Spanish music director at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

He along with seven others left from Bush airport this morning to Mexico for the pontiff's visit, each with personal reasons for making the pilgrimage.

"It is extremely emotional and a very spiritual thing," Lopez-Decasas says. "It's really amazing that leading up to this event, just the excitement that one feels inside knowing that you're going to be in the same city as the pope."

Brianna Carrizales, her family and friends also are in Mexico City this weekend to see Pope Francis. They're from Rosenberg.

"Pretty crazy, we came to get a van to drive around, and you're from Sugar Land," Carrizales said.

But say it's worth it to join the other 2 million here in prayer for peace.
