HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Looking for an apartment in Houston? Good luck!

The Houston Association of Realtors reports record rental occupancy after Hurricane Harvey.

"The apartment market was probably already at a 93, 94 percent occupancy rate," explained realtor Shad Bogany. "So now all those people who lost homes, where are they going to go?"

From this year to last, single family home rentals are up 83.6 percent.

Townhome and condo rentals are up 92.2 percent.

"I think the landlords do have all the power right now," Bogany said. "If you have credit issues, you're probably going to have a tough time leasing. Be prepared to pay at least two months of deposits."
