HOUSTON (KTRK) -- More than 1,000 Houstonians gathered at a pro-Israel rally at Congregation Beth Israel Sunday night.
"The world has to know, in as many voices as possible, that Israel has a right to defend itself," said Bobby Lapin of Congregation Beth Israel.
ABC News reports more than 1,750 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed in the past month of fighting. That's compared to the nearly 70 Israelis, mostly soldiers, who have been killed in the conflict.
"The Palestinians all over the West Bank are demonstrating against this aggression against our people," said one Palestinian protestor.
Israel had agreed to a temporary cease fire, but Hamas rejected it today. There is now no end in sight to the fighting. But for this pro-Israel group in Houston, there is still hope.
"The key to a lasting peace is having leaders who will actually stand up and realize that what's best for its citizenry is to create a situation for both sides to live in peace," Lapin said.
