WASHINGTON, D.C. (KTRK) -- Washington D.C. is in the midst of a night of celebrations.

The transition of power will be complete Friday and Texas will be well-represented.

Thursday night, the fancy dresses came out for the Black Tie and Boots Ball, where there was no doubt that Texas had come to Washington.

The ball is always a hot ticket, blending Texas swagger with Washington power.

"I think it's such a blessing to be here today, especially because it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, I'm Miss Texas and I get to be a part of historic moment at the ball," said current Miss Texas.

Many Republican state officials took the opportunity to make the trip to D.C., understandably thrilled by the change of the party in power.

The partying will last into the early morning hours, giving attendees a few hours of precious sleep before the Inauguration.
