Police shoot armed woman holding elderly woman hostage in Galveston

GALVESTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police shot a woman they say had a gun after she allegedly held an elderly woman hostage.

Authorities were called to the home on 80th Street and Beluche Drive Thursday afternoon.

Officers arriving at the scene heard a shot inside the home and called for SWAT.

Police say the woman came out with the gun and pointed it at officers. That's when she was shot.

She survived. The elderly woman wasn't harmed.
