PASADENA, TX (KTRK) -- A Pasadena police officer made a harrowing rescue overnight. He saved a kitten who was stuck on an overpass.

The officer was at a gas station along Red Bluff and the Beltway when he heard what sounded like a kitten crying. He shined his lights on the Beltway and saw the kitten's eyes reflecting back at him. It was stuck at the top of the Beltway overpass and couldn't get down.

The officer got in his squad car and drove up to where the kitten was wedged between the drain openings at the bottom of the freeway barriers.

The officer reached down to grab the kitten, but the kitten began scratching and clawing, according to police. The officer lost his grip and the kitten fell back onto the beltway, then ran back under the barrier.

The officer made a second attempt that was successful, and the kitten was taken to the Pasadena Animal Shelter.

The full rescue was captured on police dash cam, posted above.
