HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Revelry on Richmond was abuzz with two irresistible things on Friday evening -- adorable rescue dogs and hunky shirtless men.

Animal lovers had gathered at the bar to celebrate the launch of the 2017 Heartthrobs and Hound Dogs calendar.

This year's edition features firefighters, police officers and military veterans stripping down with adorable rescue pups to shatter misconceptions about rescue dogs and raise money for local shelters.

All of the 2017 models are big-time dog lovers, and some even have rescue pups of their own.

According to calendar creator Ricki Beason, this year's calendar is expected to raise nearly $40,000 to support rescue animals in cities across Texas -- a far cry from the $7,000 that the calendar's inaugural edition brought in.

At the launch party, two different Houston-area rescue shelters were on hand to help find homes for the city's most adorable four-legged friends. Dozens of dog-lovers also came out with their furry friends to celebrate the calendar's launch.
