PASADENA, TX (KTRK) -- PETA will honor the Pasadena police department after an officer saved a cat on a highway overpass last week.

We showed you the dash cam video of officer Alberto Galvan rescuing the kitten from a storm drain opening on a freeway. The officer was at a nearby gas station and said he heard the kitten crying.

The officer took the cat to the Pasadena animal shelter. PETA is now giving the department the "compassionate police department award."
