SANTA FE, TX (KTRK) -- A massive animal rescue operation is underway in Santa Fe.

The Galveston County Sheriff's Office asked the Houston SPCA for help in rescuing what may be more than 100 animals. Initial reports suggest there are more than 70 dogs, including Irish Wolfhounds, along with tortoises, turtles, snakes, macaws, doves, cockatiels and cats on the property.

The animals are reportedly living in poor environmental conditions and many are without food or water. There are also numerous dead animals on the property.

No information on the owner or any possible criminal charges is available at this time.
