HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A local animal shelter has issued a plea to avoid euthanizing homeless pets as the holidays draw near.

Fort Bend County Animal Control Services says after the holidays all shelters get inundated with animals that people decide they really didn't want, or just do not want anymore, which leads to euthanizing.

Right now, FBCAS says they are already overcrowded and inundated with pets.

FBCAS warns "the unfortunate truth is that unless we get some help fast, we will have to publish PUSH lists more frequently."

In addition to the public,FBCAS is asking animal rescues in the county with room to step in to help.
